The heel spur is a bony prominence, or exostosis, that can appear on the inside of the heel (calcaneus) as a consequence of excessive and continuous stretching of the plantar fascia, which is a band of connective tissue that covers the muscles of the area. By overstretching, the fascia can calcify, forming the spur.
The main objective of the treatment by means of orthopedic insoles is to promote the correct formation of the plantar arch and that the feet work properly so that their walking is efficient, thus avoiding future problems.
